School Mission
  • Country Lane School's mission is to provide a learning environment which meets the diverse needs of students through collaboration of the school community. We, the Country Lane Community believe that the most promising strategy for achieving our mission is to develop our capacity to function as a Professional Learning Community. We envision a school in which we:

Curriculum
  • Special education programs designed specifically for students with language or speech impairment, multiple disabilities and other health impairments.
 
 
Instructional Program Highlights
  • Currently, Kindergarten is on an AM/PM schedule. This schedule is being reevaluated for the 2007-08 school year and an extended day program may be implemented.
  • Our Home and School Club generously purchased new computers last year. All students in grades 1 to 5 visit the computer lab weekly.
  • Curriculum is open-ended and designed to allow students seeking additional challenges to extend their learning. Instruction is differentiated to meet the needs of all students.

Activities and Sports
  • Clubs and extra-curricular activities include: Math Olympiad; Enrichment classes after school such as chess, art, karate, soccer; Cornerstone Project; Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts; "Puddle Jumpers" --Upper grade students assisting in primary classrooms on rainy days and Homework Club funded by the City of San Jose.

Parent and Community Support
  • Parent volunteers are welcomed at our school
  • Parents assist directly with students in the classroom, library, copy center and computer lab
  • Volunteers provide an art docent program to all classes in grades 1-5
  • Parents run a highly effective Home and School Club which supports many activities such as our Walk-a-Thon, family picnics and scrip program.
